Here's how it looks with just a ribbon tied at the waist:

Please note the bias binding on the armholes, made from the same fabric as the collar. It was inspired by Carolyn who does amazing things with contrast fabrics. (I'm just such a solid-color person that it has taken me years of reading Carolyn's blog to wrap my head around the concept.) The ribbon at the waist was inspired by Ann's comment on the previous dress. I wanted a nice rayon petersham ribbon but as the local choices are extremely limited, I used the polyester ribbon from JoAnn's. I also wanted the ribbon to have a pretty bow and a hidden snap closure but sewing the polyester ribbon was so frustrating that in the end I went with a simple knot instead.
Here the dress is fully accessorized:

I used a piece of the collar fabric as a scarf/tie on the handbag handle, and on the hat a wider ribbon that matches the belt.
Here's a better picture of the hat and its ribbon (please excuse the crazy-lady-pondering-murder look on my face):

I have three fabrics washed and ready to cut. I think they're all going to be a version this dress. I really like it that much. Is that crazy?

I love this dress, it reminds me of Audrey Hepburn. So,so classy, you did a great job with the color choices.
Nice dress! Love that hat!
I am sooooo loving the contrast to the dress and so happy to have inspired it! :) And another 2 or 3 dresses would be perfectly okay - at least in my book!
Beautiful, now you are ready for church
Alexandra I love this dress. It does look so nice. Is the side bust dart a little high, or is that just the picture? Only another sewist would even notice. Everyone else sees the fresh white and touches of blue.
Holy Fabulous! You look rich and famous :)
This is a great dress, and it looks wonderful on you. Why not make a few more? Sounds like a good idea!

I love your dress, and you look fabulous, as always. I love, love, love hats, and this one is great, but I think you might want to try more of a 'toque' shape with this. Maybe like a tall pillbox with a bit of something, either a small brim or a drape of the contrast fabric. I think a lighter color on the hat would be good.
Not trying to be negative, but this is so great, I think it could be even better. And of course, why not have another hat? You can never have too many.
Your dress looks fantastic! I love the small pop of color.
Just beautiful! And no, not crazy--brilliant!! When a dress looks that good, it deserves to be made quite a few times.
Alex, so good to hear from you and thanks for your kind words. I have wondered how you are doing and love that you are still sewing and was interested that you were reducing your "perfectionist" standards, just a little, I am sure.
Very good work! Be very proud of yourself:)
This looks beautiful. I think I have this pattern - now I really do want to make it.
Hello! I backpedaled through your posts and read that you finally left Germany for sunny FL. I always knew you'd make it back to The Sunshine State! Your dress is beautiful and very classy ... and I especially love the do. I'll keep checking your blog now that I'm back in the real world :)
Lovely dress! You look so dapper with your accessoies too. I just bought this pattern the other day too.
