Green V-neck closeup

Nice closeup of the edging - simple handtransferred lace, 10-stitch repeat. It was fun to do and looks very pretty, if I say so myself.

Green V-neck

The green sweater is finished. It was a piece of work. This was my first time dyeing - good old Rit dye in the kitchen sink. The package said "one package will dye 1lb of fabric a light to medium color". And exactly what is a light to medium shade of dark green?
I got to find out this afternoon - result at left.

The sweater turned out great - better than I'd hoped. Looks like all this practice is finally paying off.

I have a light gray Euroflax linen on the needles, this will become a feather-and-fan stole. Linen is a pain to knit with - feels and acts like twine. I can hardly wait to wash it so it softens up some.

Green sweater in progress

I finished the Blue Jeans sweater - it's OK. Turns out I'm not a big fan of cut-and-sew. Just too much trouble with all the cutting, serging, and making sure I don't stretch the edges. So, building on that knowledge, I decided to use some of my funky pale green wool crepe (wool/rayon blend) for the next project. It will be a V-neck pullover with a hand-transferred lace edging (modified) from our group's January demonstration. All full-fashioned, with Kitchener stitch at the shoulders, and it will be dyed at the end a brighter shade of green so I won't look pasty in it.
For hand-knitting, I have plenty to occupy my time - my KnitPicks order came in with ten skeins of my favorites from their catalog - each skein a different yarn, but they are all a shade of gray, from very light to very dark. This is for my personal reference book so that I know how each yarn works up on my needles, at what gauge, and how it feels while knitting as well as knitted up. I've made two swatches so far - Andean Treasure (100% alpaca) - heavenly to knit with, and Shine (60% cotton, 40% modal) - so smoooooooth, it might just become my favorite summer yarn.
Today, I also got my order of Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in robin egg blue, for one of the beautiful sweaters from White Lies Designs. A part of that swatch is visible on the blocking board - I used bamboo needles, for better grip.
