Mended Hearts

This is a small wallhanging I made at Bernina Club yesterday at my local independent fabric store. It was a lot of fun, tried some new-to-me stitches, learned how to do the mitered corners on the binding, and tried out the BSR that everybody's talking about. If I were a quilter, it would definitely be a must. As a garment sewer, I won't have any need for it. But I did enjoy it.

WIP

Here's my current WIP - a simple V-neck pullover in KnitPicks Gossamer (Blue Jeans). It's 100% merino and feels wonderful against the skin. And with 440 yds/50g hank, there aren't many knots either. In fact, the front and the back together used just about 2.5 hanks.

It's fun knitting on my Singer 700. I'm full-fashioning the sides, but the neckline and shoulders will be cut-and-sew because I can't be bothered with all those short rows (because that's when all the stitches want to fall off).

The yarn tree came in!

And here it is. Didn't even take long to put together. Due to a UPS mishap, it first took a detour to Daytona Beach, but eventually they found the error and sent it home to mama.

It looks nice with all my yarns on it - I feel like I'm in a yarn shop. Good inspiration. Under the window is my trusty Singer 700 with its SRP60N ribber, and on the other wall is my new fine gauge Silver Reed 270. Yesterday, I managed to win an auction for a brand-new lace carriage for the 270 so I'm a happy camper these days.

Vacation stuff

Whew! It's been a great vacation - went to Missouri to see in-laws. No school, no work, just relaxing and knitting. I made a new grey capelet to replace the first one which is going to be given away. I made this new one with Patons Classic Merino Wool, a beautiful and soft yarn. And I used #9 needles, which made it a bit longer. Then I made a felted hat to go with it, my DMIL was impressed!

I also finished the pale purple mohair wrap from Ponchos & Wraps (A Knitter's dozen). It took three hours to put the fringe on! They were three wonderful hours filled with conversation with my DMIL and DFIL.

I really need to get my behind in gear and take pictures. For now, here's a picture of two Squiggle scarves I made as Christmas gifts - the green one went to my sister, the orange one to my DMIL. My mom got a similar one but hers has more yellow in it.
